Local Outreach @ Faith
Every single month there are multiple opportunities to go out and get involved in touching the community.
Christ In Action
Here at Faith we encourage all followers of Christ to daily demonstrate His love in a 21 st century way with those in our community. To support this belief, at least once a month we hold a church-wide event where we go out into the community in droves and do practical acts of service - no strings attached.
This is what we call "Christ In Action" or CIA.
Examples of recent and upcoming CIA events include:
Buying down the price of gas at local gas stations for one hour by 25 cents a gallon (can you say 'traffic jam'?)
Giving away CATA bus tokens at local shelters and missions.
Distributing free 9-volt smoke detector batteries door-to-door through lower income communities (can it get more practical and relevant than this?)
Serving 4500 cups of hot chocolate from really cool backpack rigs at Lansing's Silver Bells parade.
Providing free porta-potties and ice cream sandwiches (not necessarily in close physical proximity!) at the 4 th of July fireworks at a local mall.
Providing high-carb drinks and snacks to the workers at local hospitals and nursing homes at midnight on major holidays (nicknamed "CIA Overt Operations"). This is 'serving the servants' at its best.
Partnering with Other Churches
If you attend another local church and you'd like to see what a ministry like this is all about, bring your outreach team with you and do a CIA event with us. We'll help you get set up with some great starter ideas.
